Project Persian Gulf (initial statement)
Description:
The Persian Gulf project is a short-term and not-for-profit project
which aims to develop a few open source instances of the coordinated
brute force method. This method was originally introduced in Globe
Optimizer paper in our Appetizer
series. We think at the end of this project, there are enough
samples to help both the academia and the business sector to develop
new record breaking applications in the field of combinatorial
optimization. We apply some well-known test sets to the developed codes
for benchmarking them and post the results on this page.
Duration:
The project was announce on December 31, 2004. The estimated
duration of the project total phases should not exceed 3 months.
Timeline:
February 2005: Applying the space tape method to some
well-known test sets for the traveling salesman, the uncapacitated
facility location, and the Hamiltonian path problems and posting the
results on this page.
March 2005: Release of the source codes of the developed
globe optimizer and accepting on demand test sets from third parties
for the above mentioned problems. April 2005: The project is
officially terminated. Amendment (March 30, 2005): Instead
of publishing the test results and source codes separately, they
will be published jointly inside a separate fact-sheet for each of
the mentioned problems by the mid of April 2005.
